I finished the black salsa skirt for my (English) niece last week.  Not much fun: black stretchy fabric, which slipped through my hands and off the machine.  Add to that black rib knit around the waist and black thread, meh... Strict instructions from the salsa teacher that it had to be all black... The stretch needle saved de day and I stitched a cheeky, brightly coloured label in on the inside - the one little bit of rebelling I could get away with.

Even before the black skirt was finished I promised my niece a fun, spring/summer version.  I used the same pattern and without the stretch in the fabric it was so much easier to make.  The fabric is called 'Romance de Paris' (I love it!), from the local fabric shop.  The rib knit around the waist is a dark olive/grey colour and there's a cute 'one of a kind little fish' label on the inside.  It's about knee length and because there's quite a bit of fabric in this skirt it will swish nicely when she turns round and round in
circles.  She hasn't seen the fabric yet...  Just need to wrap it nicely now and it's ready to go underneath the Christmas tree (which isn't up yet).
